2 for 1 Strip Piecing!

This is a really fun beginner friendly Strip Piecing technique that generates two blocks for every strip set you sew!  The sample is scrappy but you could easily use Jelly rolls, Fat Quarters or yardage to cut coordinated strips in your favorite Color scheme.

The sample is made with a 5 x 6 block layout of 10” finished blocks to yield 50” x 60” center. With borders the quilt measures 55” x 65”.  However this block design is so flexible you can use it to make as many or as few blocks as need to make placemats, a table runner or any size quilt you want!

Materials list will be provided upon registration - choose from any of our fabulous Jelly Rolls, Fat Quarter Bundles or bring in your scraps (or buy a grab bag at the shop for $10).  All supplies can be purchased from the shop at a 20% discount!

Using yardage or pre-cut fabric:

-One yard of fabric will makes 28- 2.5” x 22” strips which yields about 10 blocks. If you want to make a quilt the size of the sample you will need a minimum of 3 yards of  a mixture of fabric prints (fat quarter bundles work great for this!) . If you want to cut some narrower strips you will need more fabric for the additional seam allowances.

-You can achieve a more coordinated look using Jelly rolls or strips cut from Fat Quarters or yardage.  A jelly roll with 40 strips will yield 80- 2.5” x 22” that will yield about 18 blocks.

Students must have completed New Sewing Machine Owners Class or have a basic understanding/mastery of their machine to take this class.

Please bring a machine to class that has been recently serviced or is in good working order.  Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to trouble-shoot or repair machines during class.  If we determine your machine is not working or cannot be used in class, we will either excuse you or offer you one of our machine rentals.

Minimum Class Size:  There must be at least two students signed up for the class for it to proceed.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough students and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.

The safety of our students & instructors remains our top priority.  We require that all instructors and students wear masks - either in our outdoor classroom tent or inside.  If you are feeling ill, please stay home!  Students must bring their own sewing machines (no rentals will be provided).

You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.  We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid  All cancellations must be received in writing, info@santacruzvacnsew.com.  Sorry, no exceptions.
