Free Motion Machine Quilting Winter Session

Bring your sewing machine to learn how to free motion!  This class will familiarize you with how to free motion machine quilt on your own machine.  You will discover how to drop your feed dogs, use & modify tension, thread weight, thread content, needles and movement to create your perfect inspiration!    

You will need to

- Bring your free motion quilting foot specifically for your machine (have it fitted by our staff if needed)
- Ensure that your sewing machine has the ability to drop the feed dogs
- Ensure your machine has been recently serviced or is in good working order.  

Please bring your own:

- Top stitch needles #12 or 14 (we recommend and sell Schmetz Universal)
- Good quality quilting thread size 40 or 30 weight (we recommend and sell Mettler)
- Darning or free motion foot
- Safety pins or spray baste
- 4 fat quarters (2 or 3 solid + 1 with design/print of your choice that you would like to quilt around)
- 1/2 yard cotton batting

All supplies can be purchased from the shop at a 15% discount!

Students must have completed New Sewing Machine Owners Class or have a basic understanding/mastery of their machine to take this class. 

Please bring a machine to class that has been recently serviced or is in good working order.  Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to trouble-shoot or repair machines during class.  If we determine your machine is not working or cannot be used in class, we will either excuse you or offer you one of our machine rentals.  

Minimum Class Size
:  There must be at least two students signed up for the class for it to proceed.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough students and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.  

The safety of our students & instructors remains our top priority.  We require that all instructors and students wear masks - either in our outdoor classroom tent or inside.  If you are feeling ill, please stay home!  Students must bring their own sewing machines (no rentals will be provided).  

You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.  We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid  All cancellations must be received in writing,  Sorry, no exceptions.

Instructor: Lyn Sandberg
Instructor Bio: Lyn Peare Sandberg is a local quilter, in fabric retail and member of PVQA for forty years. She's been quilting since she was 8yrs old, taught by her hillbilly aunts, piecing hand and machine quilting. Her quilts have been showcased at national shows, placed in awards and in the AQS museum in Paducah, Kentucky. She has been teaching, loving, dreaming, quilting for as long as she can remember.
