Adventures in Panel Quilts!

Have it your way! We are exploring the world of panel quilts with this modular class.

Learn the basics of quilting while constructing a @SCVacNSew exclusive designed panel quilt! With the beginner option, you can add simple borders and sashing to accentuate your center piece panel.  Chose from a vareity of different panel quilt kits including the newest panel quilt designs.  




For Advanced Beginners, learn how to accentuate panels with Flying Geese, Half Square triangles using Layer Cakes, Charm Packs or our shop procured fabric selections. Make a hanging flag!  

For Intermediate Quilters, perfect your piecing skills and explore different star block designs to accentuate the center panel.  

This class will involve both learning a technique and making a quilting project that is instructional yet easy to create!  You will mainly use a straight stitch, but also learn the basics of using your sewing machine for quilting and construction techniques for quilting projects, like cutting with a rotary cutting, 1/4” seam allowances, measuring & adding sashing & borders, and for more advanced, perfecting Flying Geese, Half Square Triangles, Star blocks and more.  

This is a 2 part class. For the Beginner option, the first session is the quilt face and the second session is finishing (binding, quilting etc)

For the more Advanced/Intermediate option, we will use both classes to finish quilt face.  The first session will focus on cutting + prep and the second will be construction and finishing the quilt face.  



Students must have completed Get to Know Your Sewing Machine Class or have a basic understanding/mastery of their machine to take this class.  

Please bring your own:

- Sewing Machine (a machine can be rented for $35).
- Basic sewing tools:  rotary, scissors, pins, seam ripper, good quality thread and 70/10 sewing machine needles etc.)
-  Kit (fabric & pattern) must be purchased separately at a 15% discount - chose from a variety of quilt kits.  Additional kits and supplies can be purchased at a 15% discount.

Minimum Class Size:  We reserve the right to cancel class if there are less than two students signed up for the class.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough students and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.  

You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.  We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid  All cancellations must be received in writing, info@santacruzvacnsew.com.  Sorry, no exceptions.
