Beginning Garment Sewing - Aloha Shirt

This summer we are focusing on men’s apparel!  No man’s wardrobe is complete without an iconic Aloha shirt!  Join us to construct this iconic statement shirt while learning basic garment construction techniques for making shirts like reading & cutting from a garment pattern, effective use of interfacing, sewing in sleeves, collars & facings, as well as button & buttonholes. 



First class will focus on pattern cutting & sizing and construction preparation, seam finishing, front patch pocket placement. sewing side seams and shoulders 

Second/Third class will focus on setting sleeves, front facing, collar and buttonhole placement.

Minimum Class Size:  We reserve the right to cancel class if there are less than two people signed up.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough people and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.  

You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.  We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid  All cancellations must be received in writing, info@santacruzvacnsew.com.  Sorry, no exceptions.

Purchase fabric and necessary supplies at the shop for a 15% discount (mention registration).  All students must bring their own machine, bring or purchase their own fabric & supplies.  Required supplies include fusible interfacing, buttons, rotary/scissors, pins or clips, marker or chalk, good quality thread (we recommend Metrosene poly).  We also recommend an adjustable seam guide to mark buttons & buttonholes
