Young Sewing Enthusiast (10+): Beginning Garment Sewing - Modular Swing Top / Sundress

Join Clare to construct this versatile & comfy sundress while learning basic garment construction techniques like pattern cutting & construction prep!  We will be making the Swing Set garment pattern from is Anna Maria’s Simple Start collection:  it's a romantic and versatile halter neck style with a drawstring sash that ties at center back. You can adjust to any length to make a top, tunic, midi or maxi dress! You can even learn how to make a patchwork option to use those scraps or up cycled material!  Pattern sizing (S - XXL) & style fits most body types, included as part of class fee. You will learn about drawstrings, making hems & casings, scrap piecing (if you chose this option!), as well as basic fitting for patterns.

This sundress is the go-to piece for your summer / Fall wardrobe for comfort ease & style!   Make it short for a cute trapeze top, knee-length or maxi length tunic or dress. 



First part of class will focus on pattern cutting and construction preparation.  Second & Third part of class will focus on dress construction, including seams & hems and fitting.  MUST BRING PRE-WASHED FABRIC to class to participate in cutting and hands-on preparation techniques.  Please visit the store or go online to purchase fabric & supplies at a 15% discount.  

Minimum Class Size:  There must be at least two people signed up for the class for it to proceed.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough people and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.  This class is for intended for 18 years or older; please contact the shop if you'd like an exception. 

You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.  We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid  All cancellations must be received in writing, info@santacruzvacnsew.com.  Sorry, no exceptions.

Purchase fabric, required pattern and necessary supplies at the shop for a 15% discount (mention registration).  All students must bring their own machine, bring or purchase their own fabric & supplies.  Required supplies include 80/12 sewing needles, fusible interfacing, rotary/scissors, pins or clips, marker or chalk, good quality thread (we recommend Metrosene poly).  We also recommend an adjustable seam guide for armhole/bottom hem & seams.
