Beginning Garment Sewing with Knits: Lark Tee

Everyone needs to learn how to make a Tee! It's iconic and functional, as well as fun to sew!  Learn how to cut out & construct with knits, using your serger or conventional sewing machine! Continue our journey of getting the most out of your serger by making Tee!! Learn how to make a serged blind hem and how to put in facings for necklines & arm-holes!

Tees are so versatile! They aren't just for exercising, you can use them for every day wear.  Sergers are ideal for knit garments, and they are a zip for knit T-shirts!  You will learn how to set a sleeve, as well as make & work with facings to create professional looking finishes.  

Please bring your own:

• Sewing Machine or Serger (we have one for rent if you need it)
• Good quality and new serger or sewing machine thread.  We recommend using a poly thread and Maxi-Lock serger thread.  80/12 Jersey Ball Point needles.   
• Knit fabric yardage, as identified in the Lark Tee Pattern
• Pins & Wonder Clips. 
• Walking & overcast feet (for conventional sewing machine owners)

Students will need to purchase a kit, which includes the Lark Tee pattern and student's choice of our knits, including our newest Bamboo knits!  Students must have a good working knowledge of their machine/serger or have taken the New User/Get to Know Your Sewing Machine/Mastering Your Serger class.  

Please bring a machine to class that has been recently serviced or is in good working order.  Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to trouble-shoot or repair sergers during class.  If we determine your machine is not working or cannot be used in class, we will either excuse you or offer you one of our machine rentals.  

Minimum Class Size:  We reserve the right to cancel class if there is less than two students signed up for the class.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough students and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.    

You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.  We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid  All cancellations must be received in writing, info@santacruzvacnsew.com.  Sorry, no exceptions.
