Beginning Crafting/Sewing: DIY Upcycled Jean Tote
Male a chic denim TOTE BAG from old jeans! In this class you will learn how to upcycle a used pair of jeans into a stylish tote bag. This is a course about sewing and upcycling, you will use all parts of the jeans. The used pair of jeans is taken apart and the tote bag pieces are cut from the legs of the jeans, the bag straps from the side seams or the waistband.
You will learn basics on how to deconstruct recycled clothing, as well as how to sew straight & reinforced seams with denim fabrics, use interfacing, as well as making a boxed bottom.
Students need to bring a pair of jeans, their own machine, 80/12 machine needles, 50 wt polyester thread, scissors/rotary, pins or clips. Class fee includes 1 1/2 yards of interfacing and your choice of 1 yard of fabric to make lining.

Students must have completed New Sewing Machine Owners Class or have a solid understanding/mastery of their machine and basic sewing concepts to take this class.
Minimum Class Size: There must be at least two people signed up for the class for it to proceed. We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough people and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.
You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.
