Beginner Quilting Frog Pond

Learn the basics of quilting and how to work with “pre-cuts”: Layer Cakes!  This class is perfect as a beginner quilting class and as a first class after Get to Know Your Sewing Machine class.  You will learn in a supportive & creative environment from our expert staff on both how to get the most of your machine for quilting and also essential quilting techniques including accurate cutting & sewing 1/4” seam allowances, placement & matching of blocks for both beautiful design and to achieve those perfect corners.  This class will involve both learning a technique and making a quilting project that is instructional yet easy to create!  You will mainly use a straight stitch, but also learn the basics of using your sewing machine for quilting and construction techniques for quilting projects, like cutting with a rotary cutting, 1/4” seam allowances.  Students can expect to finish the quilt top as part of this and/or a supplemental Quilt Finishing Workshop class.  




Students must have completed Get to Know Your Sewing Machine Class or have a basic understanding/mastery of their machine to take this class.  

Please bring your own:

- Sewing Machine (a machine can be rented for $35).
- Basic sewing tools:  rotary, scissors, pins, seam ripper, good quality thread and 70/10 sewing machine needles etc.)
-  Kit (Layer Cakes & pattern) is included as part of class fee, unless you are signed up as one of your complimentary classes with sewing machine purchase. In this case, you will need to purchase a Layer Cake at a 15% discount.  Additional layer cakes and supplies can be purchased at a 15% discount.

Minimum Class Size:  We reserve the right to cancel class if there are less than two students signed up for the class.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough students and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.  

You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.  We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid  All cancellations must be received in writing, info@santacruzvacnsew.com.  Sorry, no exceptions.
