Beginning Garment Sewing: Scout Tee

Everyone needs to learn how to make a Tee! It's iconic and functional, as well as fun to sew!  The Scout is a woven T-shirt with cap sleeves and a scoop neck.  It's fitted at the shoulders  and falls into a more relaxed fit below the bust.  Perfect on its own for spring and summer and a great layering pieced under blazers and cardigans the rest of the year.  The Scout Tee is so versatile - and the pattern is size inclusive - choose from pattern sizes 0-18 or 14-30.



In this great beginner garment sewing class, you will learn how to cut out & construct garments, making straight seams, applying bias facing, using darts to fit bust (for larger sizes), setting a sleeve and basic hemming to create professional looking finishes.  

Please bring your own:

• Sewing Machine (we have one for rent if you need it)
• Good quality 50 wt sewing machine thread.  We recommend using a poly thread Metrosene.  70/10 Universal needles.   
• Pins & Wonder Clips. 

Class fee includes a kit, which includes the Scout Tee pattern (in sizes 0-18 or 14-30) and student's choice of 2 yards of our cotton wovens!  Students must have a good working knowledge of their machine or have taken the Get to Know Your Sewing Machine class.  

Please bring a machine to class that has been recently serviced or is in good working order.  Unfortunately, we do not have the resources to trouble-shoot or repair sergers during class.  If we determine your machine is not working or cannot be used in class, we will either excuse you or offer you one of our machine rentals.  

Minimum Class Size:  We reserve the right to cancel class if there is less than two students signed up for the class.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough students and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class. This class is for intended for 18 years or older; please contact the shop if you'd like an exception.    

You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.  We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid  All cancellations must be received in writing, info@santacruzvacnsew.com.  Sorry, no exceptions.
