Intermediate Garment Sewing: The Shacket!

Meet the SHACKET! It’s a quilted shirt that wears like a jacket. Learn how to make this unisex and size inclusive shirt jacket, perfecting your techniques like setting sleeves; making pleats, plackets, cuffs & collars and button facings. This versatile pattern is easy to make and super functional for all body types and genders! You can make this as a regular long sleeved shirt, Western style, or as a quilted shacket. We will work with you to have your fabric quilted using our long arm quilter (so you can cut your pattern from it) or quilt your own fabric!
Please note a heavier machine like a Pfaff or walking foot is required to make the quilted shacket.
Please bring your own:
- 3 1/2 yards flannel, wool or quilted fabric.
- Good quality 50 weight polyester thread. 80/12 or 90/14 needles.
- Pins & Wonder Clips, seam gauge, chalk or marking pen.
- Metal shears or 60 mm rotary.
- Bring your own machine with Walking Foot (we can fit you with one if you don’t have it!)
