Skills Builder: Oh Sew Decorative Stitches!
Want to make your creation special and give it that extra flair? Feeling intimidated with all of the stitches on your machine and don’t know where to start? Join our experts in this lecture and hands-on workshop to master decorative machine sewing stitches including machine setup & optimization, tools & techniques to create polished embellishment stitches. In this class we will cover:
- Overview of decorative stitches on your machine - florals, scallops, geometrics, antique and quilting.
- Discuss tools & techniques for proper stitching: the use of interfacing/stabilizer, sewing machine needles and thread.
- Review machine settings & optimization - stitch selection, adjusting width, length & tension settings and proper foot selection (walking, monogramming and open toe applique)
- Marking, alignment and guided techniques to align stitches with fabric edges or markings.
- Specialty stitches: couching, double needles and applique
- Trouble shooting & best practices
Bring your sewing machine, the creation you want to make a decorative stitch on or fabric to make a stitch book so you can see & save your favorite decorative stitches!
Minimum Class Size: We reserve the right to cancel this class if there are less than two students signed up for the class. We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough students and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.
You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.
