Beginning Garment Sewing - Men’s Cargo Shorts/Pants

This summer we are focusing on men’s apparel! No man’s wardrobe is complete without the comfortable & functional cargo! It’s all about the pockets and we will design these shorts/pants with these in mind. Join us to construct these relaxed fit pants or shorts while learning basic garment construction techniques for making pants like reading & cutting from a garment pattern, pocket construction and placement, elastic or drawstring waistbands and hemming.
First class will focus on pattern cutting & sizing and construction preparation, seam finishing, pockets & pocket placements.
Second class will focus on waistbands, crotch & side seams and finishing techniques like hemming and topstitching.
Minimum Class Size: We reserve the right to cancel class if there are less than two people signed up. We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough people and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.
You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend. We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid All cancellations must be received in writing, info@santacruzvacnsew.com. Sorry, no exceptions.
Purchase fabric and necessary supplies at the shop for a 15% discount (mention registration). Traditional cargo are made from ripstop (we have black & blue!) or lightweight twill. All students must bring their own machine, bring or purchase their own fabric & supplies. In addition to fabric requirements as provided in pattern, students must bring their own machine, new 80/12 sewing machine needles, elastic/cording for waistband, rotary/scissors, pins or clips, marker or chalk, good quality thread (we recommend Metrosene poly). We also recommend an adjustable seam guide to mark pockets.
