Intermediate Garment Sewing - Shirt Dress

Join Clare to construct this figure flattering, fashionable dress while sharpening your pattern reading skills, garment construction techniques like inverted pleats, sleeves, buttonholes, decorative stitching/hem embellishment and fitting!



This is the perfect dress for fall - long sleeves for a crisp day or short sleeved for those hot Autumn nights, while still lightweight enough for sunny Santa Cruz!  


First part of class will focus on cutting out your pattern and fabric.  Second part of class will focus on skirt construction, including pleating, buttonholes and fitting.  Third class will focus on sleeves, cuffs, and finishing.
MUST BRING PRE-WASHED FABRIC to class to participate in cutting and hands-on preparation techniques.  Please visit the store or go online to purchase fabric and pattern at a 15% discount. Figo Space Dye is a perfect lightweight woven option in a variety of the earthbound colors, just in time for Fall!  It sews like a dream, is breathable but feels like lightweight silk!


Minimum Class Size:  There must be at least two people signed up for the class for it to proceed.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough people and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.  

You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.  We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid  All cancellations must be received in writing, info@santacruzvacnsew.com.  Sorry, no exceptions.

Purchase fabric and necessary supplies at the shop for a 15% discount (mention registration).  All students must bring their own machine, bring or purchase their own fabric & supplies.  Required supplies include fusible interfacing, rotary/scissors, pins or clips, marker or chalk, good quality thread (we recommend Metrosene poly).  We also recommend an adjustable seam guide for bottom hem & seams.
