Beginning Garment Sewing - Denim A-Line Skirt

The A-Line skirt is a classic! This classic skirt fits at the waist or hips and gradually gets wider toward the bottom, making it a must for any Fall wardrobe! Join Clare to construct this figure flattering, size inclusive skirt (sizes 0-20) while learning basic garment construction techniques like fitting, installing zippers, adding pockets, mixing and matching hems, and inserting ruffles or patchwork!  We will be working from the A-Line skirt book which with 17 different A-Line skirt patterns!  

First part of class will focus on pattern cutting and construction preparation.  Second part of class will focus on skirt construction, waistband, seams & hems and fitting.  MUST BRING PRE-WASHED FABRIC to class to participate in cutting and hands-on preparation techniques.  Please visit the store or go online to purchase fabric and pattern at a 15% discount.  


Minimum Class Size:  We reserve the right to cancel class if there are less than two people signed up for the class.  We will let you know 24 hours in advance if we do not have enough people and will give you an opportunity to sign up for an alternative class.  

You may cancel class up to 24 hrs in advance of your class start time; after which you will forfeit your class fee unless we can fill your spot from the waiting list, or you can send a friend.  We appreciate your understanding on this - as a small business, we are fortunate enough to have only the best instructors and they need to be paid  All cancellations must be received in writing, info@santacruzvacnsew.com.  Sorry, no exceptions.

Purchase fabric and necessary supplies at the shop for a 15% discount (mention registration).  All students must bring their own machine, bring or purchase their own fabric & supplies.  Required supplies include fusible interfacing, rotary/scissors, pins or clips, marker or chalk, good quality thread (we recommend Metrosene poly).  We also recommend an adjustable seam guide for bottom hem & seams.
